…The chamber music series Accordate experienced a brilliant start to the new season in the well-filled Coronation Hall with the deeply impressive performance by the Trio con Brio Copenhagen. The name of the formation seems to say it all, as the violinist Soo-Jin Hong, the cellist Soo-Kyung Hong and the pianist Jens Elvekjaer played with an intensity of tone and expression that literally took the audience’s breath away… This type of music-making reaches its climax in the interpretation of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Trio in E minor op. 67… the Trio con Brio created all of these expressive characters with an intensity, a physical and psychological commitment and an inner compassion that ultimately leads to mental exhaustion the musicians seemed to lead… It was a concert of superlatives that left a deep impression on the audience.

There’s boundless joy and passion in Arensky’s Piano Trio, and technique to burn from the players beneath the surface. The slow Elegia movement is breathtakingly tender, with the muted violin and cello creating a magical effect…”
